Thoughts For Friday + The Pick: Week 26

July 3, 2015

I'm all giddy over here as I kick off my three-day weekend! Having a Thursday that actually works like a Friday never fails to put a smile on my face. We're celebrating America's birthday with my Grandmom, a special treat for both of us. And we'll be keeping things low key; of course there will be fireworks for a bit of pizzazz!

>> SWOONING << Don't be too disappointed, but I'm still swooning over fall. It doesn't help that stores are now stocking their shelves with lush, leafy garland, pumpkins, and faux berry picks. I do think it's a bit too soon to have it out and on display, but truth be told, my fall-loving heart is crazy for it. It also doesn't help that the weather has been fairly cloudy and cool in Virginia. Nothing makes me giddy like 60° temperatures, pumpkin candles, and fall décor. And every morning and night the temperatures are nestled in the 60's. Call me crazy, but I can't wait to decorate my home with autumn delight :)

>> PONDERING << Baby names. I've had a running list of names for years, and I'm not just talking a few years. Of course, as I've gotten older some of those names have been marked off and new ones have been added. I'm super excited to name our baby, but ya'll that's a huge job to name someone. It's the name they'll go through life with! While I feel quite certain about some names, I'm still quite up in the air on others. Husband feels the same way! And no, we won't be sharing our name choice until baby's birthday! But, do feel free to leave name suggestions in the comments. I'm always looking for a name that I've missed or never heard of!

>> FEELING << I think it's a combination of nostalgia and hopefulness. I keep bouncing between my favorite parts over the last year and all the exciting things that await. From baby to blogging, I'm so excited for what is to come. As for baby, well I can't wait to meet him/her and to be able to hold our babe. Husband and I are feeling all the feels of what we think it will be like to have a baby in our home, and it leaves us on such a high. With blogging, well I feel like big things could be coming. I love what I do here on HC and don't see myself stopping. I have a lot of desires for my blog and this feels like maybe it could be the year for making those aspirations turn into realities.

>> PLANNING << A baby reveal party for our sweet babe. I've been sifting through Pinterest for inspiration, collaborating with husband on ideas, and sending out invites. We've got the date set, and now it's all about the wait. I'm trying to enjoy this time of not knowing what our little one is. Because in the grand scheme of things, we'll know for a much longer time if our first child is a boy or girl, compared to the weeks of not knowing. In the meantime I'll keep myself busy with party details!

>> CATCHING UP << House chores are the worst. At times I get a random urge to clean and organize, but during the first trimester this never really happened. Throughout the last couple of weeks, husband and I have been trying to do a little bit of cleaning here and there to catch up on our slacking. One day we'll check this to-do off of our list!

>> WISHING << I think I've already hit the nesting phase of this pregnancy, or maybe I'm just a nester in general. But, lately I keep finding myself wishing we had an actual house to live in. Currently, we rent our townhome, and renting seems like the only reasonable thing to do until husband graduates with his Master's degree (December 2016). We have no idea where the Lord will lead us after he graduates, which makes buying a house seem rather silly. Regardless, I wish we could find a house to rent, but right now we're having no luck. Don't get me wrong, our townhome is great and just what we need, but this gal likes a little bit of space and detached dwellings. It might not be in the plans, but I can't help to wish that a single family home in our price point and desired location would pop up!

And there are my thoughts for this fine Friday! I hope you have some wonderful plans for your 4th of July weekend! May the fireworks be spectacular and the food incredible! See you all back here on Monday, xo!
