3 Years

September 15, 2014

That guy to my right; he's my best friend, confidant, motivator, laugh generator, comforter, secret keeper, supporter, protector, husband, and the love of my life. He has been my life's biggest blessing, entering it in the Lord's most perfect timing, irrevocably changing life as I knew it.

Today marks our third year together. It's bringing back a flood of memories, reminding me where we have come from and what our eyes are set upon. The ups, the downs, the in-betweens, the milestones, the moments I'd like to forget, the moments I'll cherish forever, they've made this life all the better, all the more worthwhile.

I'll never forget the Thursday night he asked me to be his girlfriend. After a date out to the local Mexican restaurant and a chick flick (How to Lose a Guy in 10 days, ironic isn't it?) we were telling each other goodbye in the kitchen of the house I lived in senior year of college. This gentleman of mine hadn't held my hand, put his arm around me, nor kissed me the entire time leading up to that singular moment. Once I said yes, giddy inside, but trying to keep my composure, he asked me if he could kiss me. Leaning in I instantly knew it would be my last first kiss. Within the first week of dating I also knew I was going to marry him. I was right, both times.

Three years seems like such a small amount of time, but we have packed decades of moments, experiences, and memories into it. It feels like we've been together a lifetime. In three years we have grown closer to one another because we have simultaneously grown closer to God. And here we are, married and about to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. My relationship with Pete, and now marriage, has been full of indescribable joy that has been and always will be worth fighting for. Together we're in the good fight.

Happy 3 years my love!! Thanks for making them the very best!!
