Friday Chatter

July 24, 2020

Happy Friday, friends! It's been way too long since I've blogged. And there's a reason. Over the last several weeks, I've been in the rebranding process. Do you see it?

Welcome to Home On Oak! I'm really quite thrilled to be sharing this new name with you. After 7.5 years of blogging, I feel like I've finally come into my niche, honing in on those areas of my life that bring me the most joy and fulfillment - family/motherhood; home design; recipe creation; holidays; and traditions.

I've gone through my fair share of blog names, and nothing felt just right. Until now. I'm excited to start posting again, and more regularly! Starting with my Friday posts, "Friday Chatter," where I will round up the week with thoughts and things I've found. Coming next week, I'll begin posting at least every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday - maybe more if time permits. I've missed this blog and you all terribly! I'm a creator by nature, and I'm looking forward to all the content I will be creating and sharing here. I hope you're excited too!

While I originally thought I would hold off introducing this new look until it was all perfectly put together and complete, I have realized more than ever that the right time, is RIGHT. NOW. There's no need to push if off for that perfect moment, and I hope you'll enjoy watching the blog evolve into it's new look over the coming weeks. I have a lot planned for this space of mine and I cherish the community it has allowed me to build. So I'm opening up the work-in-progress rebrand (a vulnerable thing for me) and it will let me dive back into doing what I love best - curating, creating, and celebrating!

Now for a little chatter...

This week has been a blur. With everyone at home, all the time, I've feel that saying "the days are long, but the years are short" down in my core. Our days have been dragging lately as we try to figure out the best ways to spend time. Having a new baby on top of it adds to the challenge, and we're thankful for his sweet smiles to bring the joy around here.

Other bright spots -
  • I shared our new candle look earlier this week. I'm swooning, are you?! Notice the new symmetry of the blog's new name Home On Oak, and the rebrand of the shop name, On Oak + Co? The shop has always been an extension of what I'm doing here, but the names never reflected that. Now they do, and it feels SO good!! Speaking of, the shop opens for our fall launch next month!!!
  • My favorite summer sweatshirt is perfect for the icebox that I like to keep our house and car set at, but not too heavy for a quick run outside.
  • I've been in a baking frenzy the last two days, which has been good for my soul. I have been testing out a scone recipe. Currently, I feel like I've created the perfect recipe for chocolate chip scones. And I need to try a new technique for the cinnamon scones I made. I'll be sharing those recipes soon!
  • Sweet Magnolias was renewed for Season 2 on Netflix! This show is like a Hallmark Movie in sitcom version. And I enjoyed watching the first season while nursing Wells. It's simple and easy to stop and start - I never felt like I needed to watch a full episode in one sitting. So I'm excited this is back. A little lighthearted show is exactly what I love.
  • Have you listened to Taylor Swift's new album? I first saw that she released it today while nursing at 2:00 AM this morning. I'm excited to give it a listen. I'm curious what your thoughts are; tell me in the comments!

Signing off for the weekend, and I'll be back Monday! Gosh, that felt good to say! xoxo
