Couples Retreat Round 2

November 11, 2014

Husband and I are so fortunate for the friends we have made and the strong relationships that are developing with each of them. They are our people and it feels good to have that type of community in our lives. These friends of our have become family and when we get time to be with them, we jump at the chance.

This past weekend, Holly and her husband Morgan joined Pete and I for a cabin weekend or what we've been referring to as our second couples retreat. Our first couples retreat was spent in the Smoky Mountains and we had an incredible time. So when my great aunt offered her cabin to us for a November weekend, we knew a couples' retreat was called for.

Her cabin, better known as Buck Lair, is STUNNING. And it is nestled perfectly amongst the trees, giving you a tucked away feel while not being far from anything. I have adored my great aunt's style from my childhood and it was a treat to enjoy a full weekend worth of it with our people!

The cabin, being just a short distance from husband and my home, made for a quick trip. And that's the kind of trip I love! Friday evening was spent settling in, gobbling up Holly's amazing pasta dish, stoking a wood stove, relaxing in comfy clothes, and watching The Family Stone (the start of Christmas movies this season!). Sounds perfect, right? Because it was!

Saturday was more or less the same, but we threw in a trip to the Amish Country store for some of their homemade foods, a quick lunch at a local Mexican restaurant, good conversation, and a round of cards. Sunday we ate more and packed up for home.

More or less we spent the weekend in full on relaxation mode with time on our side. Of course trips like these also call for non-stop munching on food. I don't hate it. The four of us are already thinking ahead to our next couples retreat. For now I'm savoring the weekend and sharing our photos from the trip. A few photos from my phone are thrown in with the ones I took on my camera. Enjoy!
